Community Members Hold Vigil In Honor Of Scotty McMillan

WEST CALN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Residents lit candles Friday evening in honor of Scotty McMillan, the three-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten to death by his mother and her boyfriend in Chester County.

Community members asked others to light a candle at 7 p.m. in honor of the little boy.

There was also a vigil Friday night for Scotty at the Gateway Church in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania from 7 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Police arrested his mother, Jillian Tait, and  Gary Fellenbaum Thursday for allegedly savagely beating the toddler.

As a grieving community mourned the loss of the three-year-old boy, they gathered to grieve the violence that struck twice in their community this week.

People also came out to remember Jacinda Miller, the fitness instructor who was shot and killed outside the West Brandywine YMCA where she worked.

Miller leaves behind two children.

"This is devastating to our community. We can't sit and be idle," said Dan O'Deens of Gateway Church.

Funeral services for Jacinda Miller are set for Saturday.

At this point it's not clear when Scotty McMillan will be laid to rest.
