Investigation Continues Into Report Of Razor Blade Found Inside Montgomery County Child's Halloween Candy

TOWAMENCIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – Police in Montgomery County have released an update into their investigation into reports of a razor blade found inside a wrapped candy bar.

The incident was first reported to police after a young child got home from trick-or-treating on Halloween and opened a piece of candy to find the razor inside.

Parents in the area were notified of the report, and police say they've not received any additional reports of dangerous items in candy.

Police did, however, reach out to officers in Vineland, NJ, where another child reportedly found a similar item inside his/her candy.

At this time, it's not clear whether the two incidents are related, but police say they are in touch with the candy manufacturer and that the candy, wrapper and razor blade have been submitted for forensic examination.

In the meantime, parents are urged to inspect all of their children's candy before allowing them to consume it.
