Former Penn Professor Ordered To Pay $124 Million-plus In Murder Of Wife

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A former college professor from Montgomery County convicted of killing his wife has been ordered to pay their daughter more than $124 million.
Former University of Pennsylvania professor Rafael Robb, 64, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the beating death of his wife inside the couple's Upper Merion home in 2006 and was sentenced to five to 10 years in prison.
Now a jury has awarded Robb's daughter Olivia with the largest punitive damage amount in Pennsylvania history.
"The family is very emotional. For eight years they've been waiting for this day. The jury wanted to free their daughter Olivia from the financial control of her father," said attorney Robert Mongeluzzi, who was part of the team that represented Olivia during the civil trail. "We wanted to make sure that when Rafael Robb gets out of prison, he wouldn't be leading a life of luxury while his wife lies in a grave."
Mongeluzzi said the family is extremely grateful for the jury's verdict.
