Mysterious Odor Causes 2 To Pass Out Inside Port Richmond Building

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Authorities are investigating the cause of a mysterious odor that sickened two people inside a building in Philadelphia early Monday morning.

The incident happened at about 6:30 a.m. inside Abbott's Plating on E. Wishart Street in the city's Port Richmond section.

According to investigators, fire crews were called to the location after two people inside the building passed out due to a mysterious odor.

One victim was taken to Temple University Hospital, while the other was taken to Episcopal Hospital. The victims are reportedly in critical condition.

There are reports that the odor may have been cyanide.

A hazmat crew was at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
