A.J. Burnett Declines Player Option With Phillies
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A.J. Burnett has made the decision to not return to the Phillies in 2015. Monday was the deadline for Burnett to decide whether or not to accept his $12.75 million player option.
Burnett, 37, declined the option and now will have to decide whether or not to try to sign with another team, or enter retirement.
Burnett started 34 games for the Phillies in 2014. He posted an 8-18 record to go along with 190 strikeouts, 213.2 innings pitched and an ERA of 4.59.
