Report: DeMeco Ryans' Season Over Following Achilles Injury

By Joseph Santoliquito

HOUSTON, TX (CBS) — The Eagles got a few breaks in their 31-21 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday at NRG Stadium. But according to a few reports, DeMeco Ryans will be lost for the season with a torn right Achilles.

Ryans had to be taken off the field on a cart with 12:35 left in the game. Ryans' injury came off a peculiar play in which he intercepted a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass at the Eagles' 7-yard line, fell and fumbled the ball away, falling without being touched.

Ryans will be replaced by either Casey Matthews or Emmanuel Acho, who have stepped in earlier this season for the injured Mychal Kendricks.

"It will hurt not having DeMeco, but we have a lot of leaders on this team," Kendricks said. "But we have a lot of leaders on this team."

Ryans was sent off the field by the entire Eagles team and received a nice ovation from the Houston fans. Ryans played six years with the Texans, who selected him in the second round of the 2006 draft. He entered the game second on the Eagles with 56 tackles.
