Heavy Winds Cause Power Outages, Airport Delays

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thousands of customers in the Philadelphia region are without power today as a result of the heavy winds.
PECO spokesperson Cathy Engel Menendez says reports of power outages are coming from Philadelphia and the surrounding counties with most of them, about 20,000, in Delaware County and Montgomery County.
"We do have extra crews that are working on system," she says. "We also have called in additional PECO crews to come on throughout the afternoon to begin to work to restore service to customers."
Engel Menendez says tree branches on power lines and, in some cases, downed trees, are to blame. She says anyone without power should report it to PECO at 1-800-841-4141.
The high winds are also affecting air travel at Philadelphia International Airport, with some arriving flights running more than an hour and 20 minutes behind schedule at one point Sunday afternoon. Some departures were leaving up to an hour and 15 minutes late.
