Sixers Exercise Options On Three Key Players

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Sixers announced on Friday that they have exercised the contract options on three key pieces of their rebuilding plan. The team picked up the third year option on the contracts for Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel. They also picked up the fourth year option on Tony Wroten.

Carter-Williams has yet to play a game in his second season due to off-season surgery, but appears to be a long-term building block for the franchise. Carter-Williams is currently the reigning Rookie of the Year and became just the second Sixer to win that award (Allen Iverson).

Noel, the team's top pick in 2013, made his NBA debut on Wednesday night against the Pacers. Noel excelled in the areas he was advertised to as he snatched 10 rebounds to go along with three blocks. However, he only scored six points on 2-11 shooting.

Wroten is now in his second season with the Sixers after spending his rookie season with the Grizzlies. He showed off more of his potential in the Sixers season opener in which he scored 22 points to go along with eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Wroten averaged 13 points per game coming off the bench for the Sixers last season.
