Weekend Box Office Report: Moviegoers On Board With 'Ouija'

By Bill Wine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Are movie audiences bored with Ouija? Not yet they're not.

The new horror thriller finished first at the box office on its debut late-October weekend, earning an estimated $20-million.

The new revenge thriller, John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves, fought its way to the runnerup spot, opening with a total of $14-million.

The two newcomers dropped last weekend's leader, Fury, with Brad Pitt, to third place. It took in $13-million.

Rounding out the top five were two other holdovers: Gone Girl, with $11-million, and the animated attraction, The Book of Life, with $10-million.

Overall, industry-wide totals were pretty much on a par with those of the counterpart weekend last year.
