Facebook Creates 'Rooms' App For Anonymous Interactions

By social media editor Melony Roy

PHILADELHIA (CBS) -- If you want to go where nobody knows your name, Facebook has launched a new app.

Facebook's anonymous social app is called "Rooms."  It allows a user to create a "room" on any topic, which can then be customized with colors, icons, and photos.

According to the app's blog, the goal is to make the creation and use of message boards more mobile-friendly.

Users can sign in using whatever name they want, and can also create different names for each room.

"Rooms" can be shared through invitations that look like QR codes.

The app is currently available for download only in the Apple App store.
