Weather: Dreary Midweek

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A slow moving area of low pressure will stall just east of the region, rotating in clouds and showers today through Thursday. It's not going to be a washout of a week. Any showers will be mainly scattered, except for perhaps a brief period of heavier rain Wednesday morning.

Tuesday will be the mildest day of the week, with highs reaching the upper 60s to even around 70 in some spots. Unfortunately, they cool right back down for Wednesday and Thursday. Winds will pick up Wednesday into Thursday; it's going to feel damp and raw, certainly not the best weather for being outdoors.

The good news? Skies will begin to clear by the end of the week, with the weekend looking superb with seasonable high temperatures.

The annual Orionid meteor shower will peak on Tuesday. This year's shower coincides with a new moon, allowing for even more ideal viewing conditions with no moonlight to obstruct viewing. The best time to look would be before sunrise and looking east, but the threat for clouds tonight will unfortunately impact the chance to view the shower. Up to 25 meteors per hour are possible during the peak of the meteor shower.

Today's Highs:
Philly -- 68
Shore -- 70
Poconos -- 57
