Eric Allen Picks Eagles As Most Likely One-Loss Team To Miss Playoffs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Since 1990, 86-percent of NFL teams with only one loss through week seven have made the playoffs. Former Eagles Pro Bowl cornerback Eric Allen, however, picked the Eagles as the most likely one-loss team to miss the playoffs. The Cardinals, Cowboys, and Broncos are the only other one loss teams.

"Right now, they haven't really shown a consistency to run the football like they want to do," Allen said on SportsCenter. "I'm not sure if that explosive nature is there because DeSean Jackson is gone, so they don't have that guy that can blow the top off the coverage, so they're really going to struggle at getting big time plays. I understand they wanted big receivers, but that really is not working like it was when they had the faster receiver."

The Eagles defense has been remarkable, especially the front, as they have 12 sacks over their last two games including an eight-sack performance against the Giants. Allen, however, isn't buying it.

"And then defensively, they had an outstanding game against the Giants, but the Giants offensive line has struggled a little bit," Allen said. "I'm not sure if that can be consistent, if they can count on that week in and week out and those are the two things you really need to get to the playoffs---is an outstanding defense than is able to stop the run and a team that is gonna run the football. So, you know it's killing me to say this, but the Eagles are the one [team most likely to miss the playoffs.]."
