Democrats Shifting Campaign Spending, to Consternation of One South Jersey Hopeful

By David Madden

WILLINGBORO, N.J. (CBS) -- A South Jersey woman running for Congress had hoped to get some TV money from a Democratic Party super PAC.   But that won't be happening.

Aimee Belgard's bid to win in the 3rd Congressional District is getting a boost from the Democratic  Congressional Campaign Committee.

But the House Majority PAC is allocating its reserved Philadelphia broadcast buy to Donald Norcross in the 1st District.

Belgard could use that buy a lot more. So what's going on here?

Rowan University political science professor Larry Butler has an opinion:

"This is a seat that could have been an opportunity for them, but, given the climate of the election, they've been moving their resources," he observes.

And a lot of political money is going into US Senate races, where the Democrats desperately want to retain control.
