Week 6: Eagles' Studs And Duds (Kinda)

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- It was as close to perfect as you can get. Sheer domination. A 27-0 shellacking of the New York Giants.

The Eagles head into the bye week now 5-1 tied with Cowboys a top the NFC East. All the questions can be put to rest, at least for now. So many studs to choose from, so little duds!

Duds

I can't do it. There weren't any duds. Maybe, maybe, you could argue for Nick Foles as a dud because of two bad interceptions, but he was the quarterback of a team that won 27-0. And he was 21-34 with 248 yards passing, and two touchdowns.

I can't do it. NO duds this week.

Studs

3. LeSean McCoy

Shady is only my third dud because he did what Shady does, and I knew it was coming. The idea of he lost a step was ludicrous. And he didn't do anything different from the first five games. He did what he does. 22 carries for 149 yards.

2. Connor Barwin

The dude is everywhere. A man possessed. Barwin led the Birds with three sacks, his second-career three-sack game. Barwin has six sacks this year, all coming in the last three games, and ranks third in the NFL in that category.

Tom Coughlin got smoked by Chip Kelly, Billy Davis, and the Eagles' game plan. Defensively, the Birds amassed eight sacks and five in the first half. Over the last four games the Eagles have 16 sacks and have allowed just two. Eli Manning had been sacked just three times in five games, coming into the game.

Offensively, Chip shook things up a little to get Shady going. He used less-Shotgun and input a new little formation where the Eagles had staggered trips, put the TE in motion next to the tackle, and ran McCoy on an off-tackle run.

1st downs: Eagles 24, Giants 12

Total yards: Eagles 448, Giants 253

Total penalties: Eagles 3-25 yards, Giants 10-74 yards

The whole game plan was brilliant and dominant. The Eagles 27-point margin of victory was their largest over the Giants since a 35-3 win on September 20th, 1980 and it was the most lopsided shutout in the Eagles-Giants series since a 45-0 Eagles victory in 1948!

Oh, and Kelly is now 10-3 in his last 13 games.
