Christie: Hazing Allegations 'Extraordinarily Disturbing'

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie has expressed outrage at allegations of hazing and intimidation surrounding a central New Jersey high school's football team.

The father of four said that, if true, the reported conduct at Sayreville War Memorial High School is extraordinarily disturbing and a nightmare for the parents of the team members involved.

Christie says he's spoken with the attorney general's office and his education commissioner about the investigation and has full confidence in prosecutors.

Authorities continue to investigate the behavior that prompted the schools' superintendent to cancel the rest of the season's games.

Superintendent Richard Labbe announced Monday he was canceling the games after the Middlesex County prosecutor's office substantiated allegations of hazing.

The prosecutor's office hasn't charged anyone and hasn't released details of its investigation.
