2 Additional Cases Of Acute Muscle Weakness Reported By CHOP

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia tells Eyewitness News that it has notified the CDC that two additional patients at the hospital have acute muscle weakness of the limbs, along with changes in their spine.

CHOP previously reported three similar cases on Friday.

As of Monday, none of the five patients has been confirmed to be infected with Enterovirus D-68, although further testing is underway.

Doctors remind parents and guardians to encourage good hygiene and hand washing by all family members and to seek medical attention immediately if any signs of muscle weakness or serious respiratory illness are observed.
