Cedric Thornton The Touchdown Machine

By Joseph Santoliquito

PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) — Cedric Thornton laughed at the question, giving him a moment to reflect back on a svelter, younger time. The Eagles' defensive end wanted to remind the gathered media surrounding him that he was once a lean, 185-pound wide receiver, running back in his high school days at Star City High in Arkansas.

On Sunday, Thornton scored his first touchdown since then, when he recovered the first of his two fumbles in the end zone that gave the Eagles a 27-7 lead early in the third quarter of the Eagles' 34-28 victory over the St. Louis Rams at Lincoln Financial Field.

Thornton later recovered another fumble and rambled 40 yards before being caught from behind. He was grateful he was.

"In high school, I scored on offense, and I was 185 then, I'm 320 now and I looked a little slower on the 40-yard fumble return and happy the guys were around me," Thornton said. "For the second fumble recovery, I was definitely looking for another trip into the end zone, but I guess I have to get my endurance and my speed right. I'm excited.

"I don't know, maybe if I had a little more speed I would have scored."
