Phillies Release Statement Refuting Howard Eskin's Report

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Phillies released a statement on Friday morning refuting the report of 94WIP's Howard Eskin. Eskin reported on Thursday evening that Phillies President David Montgomery is being "pushed out" and John Middleton is hoping to gain majority ownership in the club.

Here is the Phillies statement, released around 10:10am E.T. on Friday:

"Contrary to the FOX29 report last night, David Montgomery's leave of absence from the Phillies is entirely due to his medical condition, as previously announced. There is absolutely no other reason for his leave from active involvement in the Phillies management.

Over the life of Phillies partnership, no one entity or family has owner a majority of the partnership, and we do not foresee this changing in the future."

Update: Eskin stands by his initial report, despite the Phillies' statement.
