New Restaurant Delivery Service Launches In Philadelphia

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A new food delivery service for restaurants launched in Philadelphia this week.

It's called "Caviar" and co-founder and owner Jason Wang says it's different from other delivery services such as GrubHub because they provide service to restaurants that don't generally deliver.

He says they also include higher-end restaurants and adds they keep costs down by charging the restaurant a percentage of their sales, rather than inflating menu prices.

Why do restaurants agree to split profits with Caviar?

"They have to hire delivery drivers," Wang Explains. "They have to get insurance in place. (It's) a lot of work for a little amount of extra revenue, but if they can outsource that, they'll make a profit.  And every dollar we bring to the restaurant, even after we take a cut, they're still profitable."

Since launching in Philadelphia this week, Wang says they've seen many more restaurants that want to be listed:

"We've seen a record number of people starting to use our service and we see that we're able to deliver extremely quickly, too."

Wang says the app is still being developed, but you can go online or to their mobile site.
