Larry Donnell Benched Himself In Fantasy Last Week, Then Scored Three TDs

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Every week everyone faces tough lineup decisions in fantasy football. Who should I start? Who should I sit? Well, if you were an NFL player you would surely start yourself, right?

Not in Larry Donnell's case.

On Wednesday, the New York Giants tight end admitted that he benched himself in fantasy football in favor of San Francisco 49ers' tight end Vernon Davis. Donnell proceeded to catch seven passes for 54 yards, including three touchdowns---a breakout 26 point (in standard leagues) fantasy performance for the third year player. Davis, on the other hand, had just two catches for eight yard---zero fantasy points (in standard leagues).

Donnell lost his matchup by 15 points.

"Would've won if I played me," Donnell told Art Stapelton after practice on Wednesday. "During the game, I'm like, 'Really?' That's the honest truth."

While Donnell is proving to be a very talented real football player, his fantasy football skills are officially in question. Despite his early season success, Donnell benched himself for Davis who has been battling a back injury and missed the Niners week 3 game altogether. I'm not sure what Donnell was thinking. He should probably join my Fantasy Football Friday Chat sessions.
