McCoy's Frustration Growing

By Ed Benkin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  LeSean McCoy has heard plenty of questions about his lack of production this season.  It is understandable the running back is running out of answers.

After another rough outing in San Francisco in which he was held to 17 yards, McCoy faced another round of questions about the decline in his performance.  It is clear the running back is tired of searching for answers.

"I'd love to sit up here and tell you exactly what's going on," said McCoy.  "But the truth of the matter is, we're not getting it done.  Whatever it is, that's what it is.  We have to keep working."

The Eagles were one of the top rushing teams in the NFL last season, and have managed to win three of their first four game despite limited production from their top offensive threat.  Many put the blame on the Eagles' banged-up offensive line, but McCoy had success with a depleted line two years ago.  Whatever the cause of the problem, McCoy remains confident he will regain his Pro Bowl form.

"I know who I am," McCoy said.  "I'm still confident.  I know what I can do.  We're winning games.  We're 3-1.  At times it can be frustrating but at the end of the day, I know who I am."

While McCoy has struggled through the first four weeks of the season, Wide Receiver Jeremy Maclin has stepped up his game. Maclin is close friends with McCoy and understands the frustration the running back is feeling. Maclin is also confident McCoy will soon break out and once again emerge as one of the game's most dangerous running backs.

"People are more aware that this is what we like to do," said Maclin.  "We may have been one block away from springing McCoy, so there's a lot that goes into it, but it's definitely something that we're going to continue to do.  This is what we do.  We run the football.  We need to get it going."

McCoy's next chance to get back on track will be Sunday at the Linc against St. Louis.  It will take just one huge game for McCoy to silence the seemingly never-ending questions about his slow start.

"It's definitely frustrating knowing what type of player you are," McCoy said.  You want to put the numbers up."

Maclin returned to practice after missing Tuesday's workout, but Mychal Kendricks (calf) and Brandon Boykin (hamstring) remained sidelined.
