Pat Shurmur's Plan For Lane Johnson: 'Put Him In There And Let Him Play'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- You can expect to see Lane Johnson back on the field Sunday against the Rams. Johnson, the second-year right tackle, missed the first four games of the season after violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing drugs.

Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said on Tuesday that the plan for Johnson on Sunday is, "Put him in there and get him going." Johnson was unable to communicate with the team during his suspension, but according to Shurmur, he is in great shape.

Johnson's return comes at an opportune time as the Eagles are missing their Pro Bowl left-guard Evan Mathis and their starting center Jason Kelce due to injuries. As a result the Eagles have struggled to run the ball successfully of late, rushing for only 76 yards on 37 carries in their last two games. Star running back LeSean McCoy is averaging just 2.7 yards per carry this season.
