Police ID Person Of Interest In Shooting Death Of Pregnant Woman, Baby
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police have identified a person of interest in the shooting death of a pregnant woman and her baby.
Police say 25-year-old Markese Martin, of Philadelphia, is considered a person of interest in the Sept. 24 deadly shooting.
Just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a shooting at 20th Street and Nedro Avenue in the city's Ogontz neighborhood.
They found two victims, both of them suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was a 25-year-old female, identified by police as Jasmine Williams, who was eight months pregnant.
The woman and a 26-year-old man were both taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center. The pregnant woman was pronounced dead at 1:03 a.m. Doctors performed an emergency delivery, but the newly-delivered baby did not survive and was pronounced about an hour later.
The 26-year-old was shot in the back and the leg.
Police say Martin is wanted in connection with the shooting death of a man on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Around 4 p.m., police say they responded to a report of a person with a gun at Broad Street and Hunting Park Avenue. Upon their arrival, police say officers located a crime scene in the parking lot of Popeye's Chicken located on the 4200 block of Broad Street.
According to police, the victim, identified as 42-year-old Kenneth Woods of Philadelphia, had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Police say he was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
They say the motive for the incident was robbery.
Police say 20-year-old Megan Jones of Blue Bell, Pa., and 26-year-old Kord Rozier of Philadelphia, have been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Woods.

Police say homicide investigators issued a warrant for Martin on Friday.
They say Martin should be considered armed and dangerous.
