Delaware Man Arrested After Attempting To Strangle Girlfriend

HARRINGTON, Del. (CBS) -- A Harrington, Delaware man is under arrest for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.

29-year-old Jose Morales was taken into custody Friday after police say he repeatedly punched his 31-year-old girlfriend in the face and then attempted to strangle her during an argument at Clarks Corner Apartments in Harrington.

The unidentified woman suffered facial injuries and was treated on scene by EMS.

Police say two young children, ages 5 and 12, were also at the residence during the assault.

Morales was charged with Strangulation, Assault, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and related offenses.

He was being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $20,000 cash only bond.
