What's Cooking on 1060: Casual Dining Around Town, Beerfest in Montco

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Brigantessa will have a soft opening next week at 1520 East Passyunk Avenue, with October 7th set as their official grand opening day.

"We'll have pizza, but we're not strictly a pizzeria," says chef/owner Joe Cicala (top photo).  "The concept of the restaurant is a fornoria, so it's a full-service restaurant that focuses on wood-fired cooking."

Meanwhile, the owners of the former Public House restaurant, at 2 Logan Square, near 18th and Arch Streets in center city, are in the process of converting it into a City Tap House.  They have another one at 39th and Walnut, in West Philadelphia.

"I like to call our food 'elevated American pub,' " says owner Andy Farrell.  "Great brick-oven pizza, a burger that's... no knock on your favorite corner bar, but it's not your favorite corner bar burger -- it's a little more elevated."

The third annual King of Prussia Beerfest Royale takes place on Thursday, October 2nd, and Saturday, October 4th, in the parking lot of the King of Prussia Mall.

"We bring in landscaping, we bring in picnics tables, we string bistro lighting, we have a big beer garden in the center, we have a craft beer tent and a separate international beer tent; there's German bands, there's rock bands in the craft tent, there's German dancers, it's a really special event," says Eric Goldstein, of the King of Prussia District.
