Thursday Washout, Weekend Trade Off

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Delaware Valley is trading in a soaker for a stellar weekend.

It'll be a crummy Thursday, pretty good Friday, and fantastic Saturday and Sunday! I'm sure most of you reading this will take that, right?

If not, I will assume that you either hate nice weather, or work on weekends.  Either way, this weekend won't be for you!

Heavy rain is soaking much of the region this morning as a coastal storm moves through. It is going to be cool and very blustery as well, especially along the shore.

If you are braving the weather in an attempt to check out the surf, use caution - waves will be large and seas rough, and the risk of rip currents will be high (*Coastal Flood Advisory in effect along the Jersey Shore until noon Thursday*). The precipitation should begin to let up over the next several hours before eventually coming to an end by later Thursday, and the upward trend begins.

Friday may feature a few leftover clouds in the morning, but the sun will return and it will start to feel warmer.

High pressure builds in from the west and Saturday and Sunday look absolutely wonderful with sunshine and highs around 80 degrees.
