Three Shot, Wounded During Cookout In Kingsessing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Three people were shot and wounded during a cookout in Southwest Philadelphia, police say.

It happened just before midnight Sunday along the 1300 block of South Paxon Street in the city's Kingsessing neighborhood.

Authorities say neighbors were barbecuing on the front porch of a home when shots were fired.

A 48-year-old man was struck three times in the side and stomach. A 21-year-old man was shot once in the stomach. Both were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.

A 28-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her leg. She was hospitalized in good condition.

Investigators found 21 shell casings at the scene.

Police were checking surveillance video and talking with eyewitnesses hoping to identify the shooter or shooters.

There were no immediate arrests and there was no initial word on a motive.
