Bucks County Conference Focuses On What Older People Can Do To Promote Peace

NEWTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A Bucks County retirement community is not resting on its laurels, but reaching out to promote peace in the first ever "Peace Conference at Pennswood Village" Friday.
Pennswood Village in Newtown is hosting the conference with breakout sessions like Peace in the Home, Commitment to Peace and Non-Violence and Speaking out for Peace.
"The conference is focussing on what older people can do to promote peace," explains conference coordinator Liz Serkin. "It's ways that older people can support their children and grandchildren, the community, community agencies working with this problem."
The keynote speaker is Frances Fox Piven, a professor of political science and sociology at the City University of New York, who has worked for social justice and peace for most of her life.
