Responders At 9-11 Event Rescue 2 From Ocean In Cape May
CAPE MAY, N.J. (AP) — Emergency responders at a Sept. 11 ceremony rescued two people from the ocean in Cape May.
Members of the Cape May Fire Department, beach patrol and Coast Guard Training Center's fire department were leaving the ceremony Thursday night when they were alerted that someone was in distress offshore.
The Coast Guard says bystanders told them a female swimmer was in trouble and a male swimmer had gone in the ocean to try to rescue her.
Responders pulled both to safety.
The female was taken to a hospital and the male was treated and released.
