Alligator Found Roaming Produce Section Inside Pennsylvania Supermarket

By Steve Beck

CARLISLE, Pa. (CBS) -- In a supermarket produce section, you expect to find apples, bananas and grapes.

But how about an alligator?

That's exactly what happened at a GIANT food store in Pennsylvania this past weekend.

Employees at the store on E. Main Street spotted a foot-long alligator roaming in the produce section of the store on Sunday.

After capturing the reptile, the employees called the Middletown Police Department (Dauphin County).

So, you are probably asking "how did the alligator get there in the first place?"

Well, that mystery was solved when a customer came forward and said the alligator was hers.

The woman said that her son, without her knowledge, had put their pet alligator in her purse and it crawled out while she was shopping.

The pet alligator was returned to its owner.

No customers, associates or the alligator were harmed.

It's unknown if the alligator was a regular GIANT shopper, but as you can predict, as it was being taken out of the store, everyone said "see ya later gator!"
