By Steve Beck, Walt Hunter

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. (CBS) -- One person was hospitalized after a train struck a car in South Jersey Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. on Grove Street in West Deptford, New Jersey.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene shortly after the crash where it showed an SUV with heavy damage to right side of the vehicle.

West Deptford, New Jersey, police say a driver is fortunate to survive with "non-life threatening" injuries after her SUV was rammed by a Conrail freight train at the Crown Point Road crossing just before 12:30.

Video, aired first and exclusively on CBS 3, shows the train hitting the vehicle and driving it 60 yards down the tracks.

Fortunately, police say, the SUV flipped off the tracks onto an adjacent street, before it was crushed by the train, which continued for another 200 yards before it could be stopped.

Fire units quickly removed the driver from her vehicle, rushing her to the hospital. Witnesses say the woman was responsive when she was being transported to the hospital.

Police and Conrail officials say all warning devices were operating properly at the time of the crash.

Conrail says the train horn was also activated. No one aboard the train was hurt.

The collision remains under investigation.
