Rolling The Dice On New Jersey Sports Betting

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) --- New Jersey is prepared to allow sports betting at casinos and racetracks, thanks to a loophole in a federal court decision and a reversal from Governor Chris Christie. But don't expect to line up at the sports book room in any casino just yet.
As the state reads the ruling of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, New Jersey can't sponsor sports betting, but there's nothing stopping casinos from doing it if the state won't prosecute anyone.
Atlantic City attorney Lloyd Levenson says the attorney general wants to be sure he's reading all this correctly.
"The attorney general has filed a motion before the United States District Court judge, trying to confirm that what he is saying is okay to do," he said.
Assuming pro sports leagues and the NCAA chime in to oppose the idea, that motion could take awhile. But Levenson thinks it possible people may be placing sports bets in the Garden State in time for the Super Bowl.
