OCEAN CITY, N.J. (CBS) — Labor Day weekend is just around the corner. But, truth be told, lots of people head “down the shore” to vacation in September.
And if you’d like to take a week or so next month, there’s plenty of rental housing to be had.
It has been a busy summer at Berger Realty, in Ocean City. General manager Frank Shoemaker says the fact that Labor Day falls on the first of the month makes September even more available.
Not to mention more attractive.
“It’s still pretty warm. The ocean is warm, and the crowds have started to go home,” he notes.
Can you get a vacation place on such late notice? Sure, although, Shoemaker says, you might need to be a little flexible as to location. Many beachfront homes and condos are already spoken for, but there’s a good deal of inventory priced from about $1,000 to several thousand for a week.
And if you’re just looking for a quick weekend, he suggests, try one of the seashore hotels.
