Philadelphia Honey Festival Hosts Cooking Contest
By Phran Novelli
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Whatcha cooking, honey? Honey bees not only pollinate lots of our favorite foods, they also produce that golden goo that's great to eat and cook with too. And at the upcoming Philadelphia Honey Festival the first weekend in September, you can show off how you cook with honey.
Maybe that appetizer you make with goat cheese, your family's famous baklava, the way you swirl the sweet sticky stuff into your secret sauce for pot roast, or some honey-coated toasted tofu? You tell me - or better yet, tell them!
Categories include entrees, desserts or salads/sidedishes or 'other' and each entrant is entitled to pick up a jar of wildflower honey at Bartram's Garden to use in your recipe if you like.
So start taste-testing and refining your recipe to bring two dishes of it (one for tasting and another for display) to the contest at Bartram's Garden on Sunday September 7th but FIRST you have to fill out and submit an entry form by August 29th.
