Police Officer Dragged By Robbery Suspect's Car In Olney

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A Philadelphia Police Officer was dragged by a car for half a block in Olney Sunday morning. The officer was attempting to question a man who tried to break in to a food truck.

Around 4am Sunday morning, the officer spotted the break-in attempt and tried to apprehend the robbery suspect.

The suspect got in a car and sped off while the officer was still clinging to the suspect.

"He proceeded south on 2nd Street, with the police officer hanging on to the male who was inside the car, with the driver's door half ajar," said Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs. "The officer was drug from the the rear alleyway until he got to 2nd and Nedro."

The officer had a few minor scrapes, but otherwise is in good shape and did not require medical treatment.

The suspect hit a few cars fleeing the scene, including a police cruiser.

The suspect's car was found abandoned near 5th and Marshall Streets. So far, no arrests have been made.
