Positively Philadelphia: Phillyosophy Photo Contest
By Lauren Lipton
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — If you like to take photographs, do I have a contest for you!
It’s part of the new “Phillyosophy” campaign by the tourism promotion agency Visit Philadelphia. You match up a picture of yours with one of six taglines they provide.
Meryl Levitz, president and CEO of Visit Philadelphia, says the taglines are intended to be inspiring.
“Line number 1, ‘Your nightlife is only as good as your brunch.’ Think about that for a minute. The second, ‘Actually, it is easy being green.’ The third one, which is kind of an homage to Satchel Paige’s ‘Dance like nobody’s looking,’ is, ‘Run the steps like nobody’s watching.’
“Fourth: ‘Philadelphia freedom is a state of mind.’ And I may say that so far, out of the first thousand entries in less than 24 hours, that one has received the most submissions, the most photos to go along with that line.
“The fifth one is, ‘After hours are often the best hours.’ And then the last one, very optimistically believe ‘Our year is every year.’ So those are the six lines. We feel those are lines that express the Philadelphia attitude and experience, but still give people plenty of opportunity with their phone or their camera to go through their Philadelphia experiences and come up with a good match.”

The pictures can be anything, as long as it’s in Philadelphia. The winner gets his or her photo on a billboard and wins a lot of other prizes.
“Anybody who feels that they know a part of Philly that they want to share and get out there that would look awfully good on a billboard on I-95 can do this,” Levitz tells Positively Philadelphia.
The deadline for submissions is August 3rd. They’ll choose the top finalists, then you’ll get to vote on your favorite. For more information, go to visitphilly.com.
And, for this week, that’s “Positively Philadelphia!”
