By Steve Beck

LAUREL, Del. (CBS) -- Police in Delaware are searching for a man who went missing Wednesday afternoon.

Delaware State Police say Michael D. Vanderhoeven hasn't been heard from or seen since approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

There is a concern for Vanderhoeven's safety and welfare as troopers have been unable to make contact with him and attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.

Vanderhoeven was last seen leaving his residence in the 34000 block of Branch School Road in Laurel, Delaware. He is described as a white male, 5'9" tall, 180 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

Troopers believe Vanderhoeven may be in the Delmar or Salisbury, Maryland areas.

Anyone with information on Vanderhoeven's whereabouts is urged to call Troop 5 at 302-337-1090 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
