Weather: Sunny, Steamy, Stormy

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Yes, in that order. All will awaken to sunny skies this morning. Those skies will last through the afternoon, by which time it will feel downright steamy! And last but certainly not least, a line of storms will roll through later today into this evening.

The culprits?

Humidity: Wanted for temperature treason, and making it feel more icky than it actually is.
Cold Front: Wanted for numerous counts of showers and thunderstorms. Last seen over parts of the central plains heading east. Meteorologists suspect a Delaware Valley visit later today.

Some of these storms later are capable of heavy downpours, gusty winds and dangerous lightning. Keep an eye to the sky, and if you see something, send something! As in any and all of your storm photos. The easiest way to do it? Download the CBS Philly Weather App on your iPhone!

The culprits are expected to be found and taken into custody on Thursday morning and exiled into the Atlantic Ocean by the afternoon. As a result, the weather for Friday and Saturday looks great.

Today's Highs:
Philly -- 92
Shore -- 85
Poconos -- 82

Today In Weather History:
1788 -- A weather diary kept by George Washington recorded that the center of a hurricane passed directly over his Mount Vernon home. The hurricane crossed eastern North Carolina and Virginia before moving into the Central Appalachians. Norfolk, VA, reported houses destroyed, trees uprooted, and crops leveled to the ground.
