PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — One of the most beloved musicals of all time, “West Side Story,” comes to life at the Mann Center on July 30th.
Mann President and CEO Catherine Cahill says the Oscar-winning film will be shown on a giant screen while the Philadelphia Orchestra performs all your favorite songs.
“What happens is the actual orchestration is stripped out from the film, and the entire film as you know and love it will be shown. Maria will be singing, and the Sharks and the Jets will be dancing, and the Orchestra will be playing this iconic score live,” Cahill explains.
She also says this debut performance offers a unique perspective to the popular love story.
“And I promise you, you haven’t experienced it like that, and it’s never been in this presentation style at the Mann before.”
