WEATHER BLOG: Strong Storms To Begin New Week

By Katie Fehlinger

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Heat and humidity continue to build across the Delaware Valley, all in advance of our next sluggish cold front.

Sunday will feature some sunshine, but we'll also have a few showers or storms to dodge as the day progresses.

By Monday and Tuesday, a potent cold front will be making its slow approach from the west. Since it will have a very steamy air mass to slice through, we could be dealing with severe storms either day. The Storm Prediction Center has already issued a slight risk for most of the Delaware Valley Monday. Any storms that ignite may have the potential to bring heavy downpours, strong winds, and possibly some hail. In the meantime, temperatures easily spike and flirt with (or hit) 90 degrees.

At this point, there's a shot that we're still left with some lingering rain Wednesday morning, but skies should start to clear with a more refreshing air mass taking over.
