'Glee' Star's Boyfriend Found Dead In Center City Hotel

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The boyfriend of one of the stars from the popular show "Glee" was found dead in a Center City Philadelphia hotel room.

Matt Bendik, the boyfriend of Becca Tobin, was found in the Hotel Monaco on Chestnut Street Thursday afternoon.

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner says an autopsy attempting to determine what caused the death of 31-year-old nightclub owner Matt Bendik inside a hotel room on Independence Mall Thursday is inconclusive and additional tests will be required.

"The autopsy did not immediately establish a clear cause of death," the statement read, in part, "There was no evidence of trauma."

Philadelphia Police, who are classifying the case, for now, a "sudden death" investigation, say there were no signs of anything suspicious or any foul play inside the room where Bendik was found unconscious by a hotel employee, shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday.

Medics, who rushed to the scene, performed CPR but were unable to revive him and pronounced him dead at 1:17 p.m.

Bendik is the boyfriend of "Glee" star Becca Tobin, who did not accompany him on what police described as a business trip to Philadelphia.

Police say Wednesday evening Bendik was socializing in an attempt to sample Philadelphia nightlife and there were no signs of any problems.

So far, there have been no statements from representatives of Bendik's family or Tobin's.

Because of additional tests that have to be performed, it's possible the cause of his death may not be known for several weeks.

This is not the first time tragedy has struck to someone connected to the show.

Almost a year ago, "Glee" star Cory Monteith died of an accidental alcohol and drug overdose in a Canadian hotel.
