Netflix doubles Emmy nods
Netflix was nominated in six of the top categories, including best drama (“House of Cards”), best comedy (“Orange is the New Black”) and lead actor and lead actress in both drama and comedy. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright were nominated for “House of Cards,” while “Orange is the New Black’s” Taylor Schilling received a nod along with Ricky Gervais for “Derek.”
“Orange is the New Black” alone received 12 nominations.
The 2013 season was the first time a series that originated on non-traditional TV landed any nominations in a major category.
SoundCloud partners with Sonos
Sonos sells a wireless HiFi speaker system that includes multiple speakers and a bridge.
Through your smartphone, you can set up playlists and songs from your favorite platforms like Pandora, Spotify, or your own music library and now SoundCloud.
According to the official blog post, SoundCloud now sees 12 hours of audio and music uploaded to the platform every minute.
LinkedIn overhauls one of its apps
The professional network has turned its Contacts App into a new Connected App.
Connected will help users reach out to people in their network when it matters most, so they can keep your network active.
Like in Contacts, users can sync their calendars with Connected. The updated app includes what LinkedIn refers to as anticipatory computing. Meaning, if you sync your calendar, Connected will prompt you to check out the profiles of those you’re scheduled to meet with. It also sends reminders to follow-up with those people after your meeting.
