Phillies Open Series In Milwaukee Behind Hamels
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a lost weekend in Pittsburgh, the Phillies are hoping a change in scenery can help get them going as they open a four-game series tonight in Milwaukee.
The Phillies were swept by the Pirates, they finished with just 11 hits, total, for the three-game series. That sweep dropped the Phillies to 14 games under .500 at 37-51 and they are now 12 games out of first in National League East.
Cole Hamels will get the start tonight for the Phillies. The left-hander is just 2-5 this season, despite a 2.98 ERA. last time out he lost to the Marlins, allowing three runs in five innings of work down in Florida. In his career, Hamels is 6-3 against Milwaukee in 11 regular season starts with a 3.93 ERA.
The Brewers lead the National League Central with a 52-37 record and tonight they will start right-hander Marco Estrada. He is 7-5 this season despite an ERA which checks in at 4.94.
