JENKINTOWN, Pa. (CBS) — A bridge over the Jenkintown Train Station finally reopened at about 10:30 a.m. Monday.

The $5.5-million Greenwood Avenue Bridge in Jenkintown was supposed to open in September of 2013.

PennDOT spokesman Gene Blaum says winter weather and difficulty with utility wires on the span caused much of the delay:

“It’s very important to the Cheltenham and Jenkintown communities. The bridge carried 8,600 vehicles a day prior to its closure in 2012.”

The original structure was built in 1939.
