PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — An employee in the Philadelphia Police Department has been arrested on assault charges and other crimes after an incident in South Philadelphia earlier this week.

Police say 52-year-old Kathy Pugh was involved in a fight with another woman near the corner of S. American and West Porter Streets on Sunday afternoon.

Police say Pugh was trying to hit the woman.  She has now been charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated and simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Pugh is a 27-year veteran of the Police Department’s reports control unit.

Police commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Pugh for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
