PHILADELPHIA (CBS) —  Some people might call fifteen-year-old Elvis’ interests a bit creepy.

“I started playing around with bugs and insects…”   But there’s nothing creepy about it, he insists:  it’s science.

“Basically, their habitats, how they live, what they feed on really interest me,” he says.

He also likes to fly fish, and wants to do it professionally some day.

His social worker, John Webb, says Elvis is mature beyond his years.  And he sees that in Elvis’ role on the New Jersey Department of Children and Families youth advisory board for his county.

(Webb:)   “…which is an opportunity for youth to come together, talk about issues, do some community work. And do you want to tell them what your role is there, Elvis?”

(Elvis:)   “I am the president of the Youth Advisory Board.”

(Webb:)   “It’s a big honor. He was voted by his peers. He runs meetings and he even gets paid for it.”

But this responsible young man says he still needs a permanent family.

“Family would be the world to me, actually,” Elvis says soberly.
