IronPigs To Don 'Thriller' Inspired Jerseys To Honor Michael Jackson

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Fans should be in for quite the "Thriller," on July 24th when the Lehigh Valley IronPigs take on the Pawtucket Red Sox. The excitement may not necessarily stem from the game itself, but from special event that the IronPigs have planned.

That night will be Michael Jackson Tribute Night at Coca Cola Park. The Phillies' AAA affiliate will be looking the part that night. The team will don special jerseys designed to look like the red jacket that Jackson wore in the iconic "Thriller," video.

The unique uniforms will be auctioned off that night and the proceeds will benefit the COCO Foundation, a non-profit group that supports people and families that have dealt with the impact of pediatric cancer.

The experience will take place during the team's 80's night and General Manager Kurt Landes thinks it is only fitting to honor Jackson.

"No artist is more synonymous with the 1980s than the King of Pop," said Landes. "We are excited to celebrate the career of Michael Jackson with these chart-topping jerseys while also raising awareness and funds for The COCO Foundation."

Tickets for the game are still available. You can purchase tickets at Coca Cola Park's box office, over the phone by calling 610-841-7447 or online.
