Driver Charged In Crash That Injured NJ Police Officer
MONROE TWP., N.J. (CBS) – The driver of an SUV in a crash that injured a Monroe Township, New Jersey police officer has been charged.
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the Black Horse Pike near Corkery Lane.
The driver, 33-year-old Jesse Petryk, was driving the SUV that struck the patrol car of Monroe Township officer Anthony Vezza while he was standing near another vehicle he had stopped, then struck the officer himself.
Petryk is charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and three counts of assault by auto.
Vezza was airlifted to Cooper Medical Center in Camden where he underwent surgery. He suffered a broken leg and is in stable condition.

The collision is under investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
