Plenty To Do At The Mann Center This Summer

By Pat Ciarrocchi

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Mann Center is pulling out all the stops this summer. This week alone, an iconic star, Italian tenors and the Philadelphia Orchestra are performing.

Then through the summer, rock and roll … the movies … and now, you not only can enjoy the music under the stars, but fine dining too.

The lady with the magic – Diana Ross – is headlining the Mann Center Wednesday, June 25th.

"Diana Ross -- what can I say? She is a sensational artist," said Cathy Cahill, the President and CEO of the Mann. "She hasn't been in Philadelphia for over 10 years."

Cahill has been working hard to make The Mann the summer entertainment go-to place for everyone, with a broad mix of entertainment.

The Philadelphia Orchestra will be center stage with its Mann Summer series, featuring its first full classical performance -- Beethoven's 9th Symphony on Friday, June 27th.

In between Diana Ross and Beethoven, the young Italian superstars, Il Volo, will be guest artists with the Orchestra on Thursday, June 26th.

The Mann Center has a full menu of music for the summer season. (see www.manncenter.org) But also, it has dining options from the traditional picnicking on the lawn, to very fancy dining up on the hill at Crescendo.

This summer season, Michele Leff with 12th Street Catering is creating 14 fine dining buffets, depending on your concert.

She calls it, "perfect summer fare-bright, fresh, seasonal, and outside under a tent."

For The Mann, give it a standing ovation. More at www.theartsinphilly.org.
