Police: 16-Year-Old Slashes Student Across The Face On Bus In Pennsauken

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS) – Authorities say a 16-year-old girl was slashed on the side of her face by another 16-year-old female on a school bus in Pennsauken Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened around the time of dismissal from Pennsauken High School on the 800 block of Hylton Road.

According to authorities, the victim was standing near the front of the bus when she had the side of her face slashed with a sharp object.

Authorities say a Pennsauken police officer happened to be at the scene and immediately took the 16-year-old accused of the assault into custody.

The victim is being treated at Cooper Hospital in Camden. Her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Authorities say the 16-year-old is charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds. She will be transferred to the Camden County Youth Detention Center.

This attack is an atypically violent one for Pennsauken High, Chief Coffey said. Police have responded to fights at the school, but usually incidents do not involve weapons and do not result in such serious injuries.
